How to Apply

Start Your Student Application


Click on a "Start Application Now" button. This will link you to our online application.

Create An Account


Create an account. This should take less than 10 minutes. You will receive an email confirmation once your account is setup.

Fill Out Your Application


Complete the guided step-by-step online application. You can save an application in process, then return later to complete. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Don't worry, we'll send you reminders.

Application Processing


Applications are reviewed by the enrollment team on a first-come, first-served basis. An application is not considered complete until all student records have been received. After the lottery is complete in April, you can apply for any remaining available seats.

Your student’s birth certificate and vaccination records

Proof of residency

(current utility bill)

Proof of guardianship (driver’s license or court documentation)

  • How do I apply to New American?

    The application process is quick and easy. Begin by creating an account. Then complete the step-by-step application. Submit the required student information online, in person, or by mail. You will be notified as to whether there is an open seat for your child.

  • Are there any costs to apply to New American?

    We are a free public school. There are no costs to apply. 

  • What is your student lottery process?

    All Interested families must complete the online application before April 1st to enter into the TNAACS lottery.

    Our application preferences include siblings of enrolled students and in-district residents.

    ‍

    We accept all students regardless of prior academic achievement.

    ‍

    Separate applications must be completed for each sibling.

    ‍

    Once the lottery is complete, families who were accepted will be informed by the preferred communication method they selected on their application.

    Students on the waitlist will be notified when a seat becomes available.


    After the April lottery is complete, we continue to accept applications until all seats are filled.

    Application waitlists do not "roll over" from year to year; make sure to reapply even if you're currently on a TNAACS waitlist.



  • What if we missed the April enrollment lottery?

    After the April enrollment lottery, we continue to accept applications year-round for any open seats in all grades. You can schedule a tour, have a call with someone from our enrollment team, or apply today. We look forward to meeting you!

  • Can I arrange a tour of the school?

    We encourage you to see TNAACS classrooms in action! Semi-private tours and virtual tours are available for our K-5th grade classes. 

  • Can someone help me with the application?

    Call our main office and we can assist you over the phone to complete the application. The phone number is 718-385-1709. You can also email us at info@tnaacs.org. Include your name and phone number and our admissions team member will contact you.


  • What is SchoolMint?

    SchoolMint is an online enrollment and communication platform working with public, charters, and private schools to make the enrollment process for parents easier and faster.


    SchoolMint offers different options so parents can apply and register with a computer or mobile device. They can upload student documents, check application status, and even select the method by which they prefer to receive your school’s communications - by email or text.


    New American utilizes this enrollment software to ensure security and timely response to your student’s acceptance.
